Fibre Optic Arrives. First Floor Flooring 8

The free.com engineer is due this afternoon so I spent this morning with some small issues.

First, I have installed a threshold for the workshop door as there will be different tiling inside the workshop from the rest of the exterior patio surfaces.

I then checked out this old concrete table top that we got for free when we bought the fountain as it was cracked. It is the perfect size to sit on the fountain foundation and cover the concrete finish.

I then set about the floors for the en-suite areas on the first floor.I have used a 6mm plywood sheet so that the level of the oak and travertine will be the same once installed. 6mm is far too week to support any form of flooring so I am installing 22mm OSB underneath and screwing it to the plywood. The OSB will then be supported with wooden trim along the length of the joists on both sides.

In the afternoon the engineer came and within 20 minutes we had pulled the fibre optic cable using the pulling rods I had prepared. The rest was testing the cable, firing it up (he had to go to the local switchboard to do that) and testing the internet connection. Not quite as fast as the rental property (due to the remoteness of the property) but more than adequate for our needs. The house is now finally on line.
