The gravel arrives on a lorry and trailer.

While I hold the cables up above the entrance archway, the bags are hoisted over the wall and positioned for their bottoms to be sliced open to create a pile of gravel on the drive.

While Florent and his team concentrate on the drive entrance, I start loading barrows with gravel to lay the path behind the house.

With enough gravel passed over the wall for the drive the balance is offloaded on the roadside for us to bring in with the small tipper truck.

By now, I have finished the rear path and set about helping Florent’s team. The videos below show us lifting the bags over the truck and them emptying them on to it. It is then reversed onto the drive and the gravel tipped a little at a time while we all use our rakes (upside down) to level the gravel as we go.
The truck cannot drive on the gravel grids until they are filled with gravel so the process is slow but a lot easier than moving it with the wheelbarrows.

The finished driveway and paths transform the property.

Florent then finds time to level some of the rear garden around the fosse and well. Just the exit pipe from the well to the beck at the back of the property to be covered now.
