Like a miracle, by ensuring the first post was vertical and held firmly in place, the entire construction went together without a hitch although you can see I had to do a lot more localised bracing. I am leaving them in place for now as I have had to order a new drill bit (18mm) for the peg holes where the do not quite line up and until it is pegged and secured, I am worried it might slip back out of true.
So I then got on with fitting the three lines of central roof beams. First one side, then (not shown) the other. Unlike the other pieces so far these there sets of beams are free agents so it was important to get them all lined up with the front and rear beams at each end it was also important to get the angled joint to fit with a level surface as the rafters need to be installed flat for the roof.
So with the beams finally in place I was able to start on the rafters. Don’t worry, the car was not under there when I was working! At the end of the day I just tried it in there to see how well it fitted. Looks spacious. Rafters will be finished tomorrow.
